Dr Joshua Silverman
Dr Joshua Silverman is an internationally trained urologist with subspecialty fellowship training in prostate surgery, offering comprehensive management of both benign and malignant prostate conditions. He combines evidence-based medicine with a strong focus on personalised, patient-centred care, ensuring that every treatment plan is carefully tailored to the individual patient’s condition, lifestyle, priorities and long-term goals.
Dr Silverman has a particular interest in modern minimally invasive and sexual function–preserving treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). He offers a wide range of contemporary treatment options including Rezum Water Vapour Therapy, iTind, Greenlight laser and UroLift, alongside traditional surgical approaches where appropriate. His practice focuses on helping men achieve meaningful symptom improvement while preserving quality of life, continence and sexual function whenever possible.
In addition to benign prostate disease, Dr Silverman has advanced training in the diagnosis and management of prostate cancer. He provides comprehensive assessment and treatment pathways ranging from active surveillance and focal therapy approaches through to whole-gland treatment strategies, depending on the nature and stage of the disease. He works closely with patients to ensure they understand the benefits, limitations and potential side effects of each option, allowing for informed and shared decision-making.
After completing his medical degree in 2012, Dr Silverman undertook basic surgical training in the United Kingdom before relocating to New Zealand, where he completed specialist urology training through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He subsequently completed fellowship training focused on prostate disease and modern surgical techniques before returning to the Gold Coast to establish his practice and raise his young family.
